OVERVIEW
"The ICL World Link" report
(English-Russian) outlines proposals for an intercontinental
transport and energy corridor between Eurasia and Americas
via the Bering Strait.
The 60-page A4 colour report also provides
an overview of the historic ICL World Link conference
held in Moscow at the Russian Academy of Sciences on 24
April 2007. The event, which was covered by the world's
press, was sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Economic
Development and Unified Energy System of Russia (RAO UESR).
The focus is on the construction of
a rail corridor integrated with electric power systems
from Yakutsk (Siberia) as far the Bering Strait, which
forms the maritime passage between the North Pacific and
the Arctic Ocean.
The report covers proposals for the
greater ICL-World Link concept: this would create an integrated
rail-tunnel and energy transfer corridor to link the continents
via the Bering Strait in the 21st century.
The articles include outstanding expositions
by: Walter Hickel (former Governor of Alaska and Secretary
of the Interior), Alexander Granberg (Academician, RAS),
George Koumal (IBSTRG chairman), and Alexander Sergeyev
(HydroOGK).
